As we continue to improve our products and packaging, you may notice we are using the word “CBD” less, replacing it with the phrase “full spectrum hemp extract oil” or “full spectrum oil (FSO).” While our products absolutely contain CBD, we want to be more clear that we use the whole plant with all of its wonderful compounds, not just CBD. So what is the difference between CBD Isolate vs Full Spectrum and why is the naming convention important?
Think about juicing vs eating whole fruits and vegetables or blending them. While juicing extracts the juice from the fresh fruits and vegetables, you lose a lot of the phytonutrients contained in the whole fruit or vegetable, like fiber.
It’s a similar idea with the hemp plant. The hemp plant contains so much more than just CBD, with over 500 compounds including:
– Other cannabinoids like CBN, CBG, and CBV
– Terpenes, the essential oils of the hemp plant
– Fatty acids that help aid in absorption
CBD Isolate vs Full Spectrum
When you use full spectrum hemp extract oil, you are getting all of those other compounds including CBD, which creates The Entourage Effect: the idea that together these compounds maximize the potential therapeutic effects, more than if they were on their own.
CBD Isolate on the other hand, is exactly as its name suggests: it is the cannabinoid CBD isolated completely on its own, with none of the other compounds, therefore not resulting in The Entourage Effect.
CBD Isolate
Since our products use the full spectrum oil (FSO), you’ll see us using this phrase a lot more than just saying CBD, because our products are so much more than just CBD! We want to be as transparent as possible and we hope to continue to educate the public on the science behind whole plant benefits when comparing CBD Isolate vs full spectrum oil.
As Aristotle famously said: The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts.”
